How do I create a guest Wi-Fi network?
Go to More settings → Network → 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi settings (or 5 GHz Wi-Fi settings) and select the Guest Wi-Fi sub-tab. Enable the guest network, set a name and password, and click Sure. The guest network is isolated from your main network.
How do I open ports for a game or application (port forwarding)?
Go to More settings → Safety → Port Mapping. Click '+ Add rules' and fill in:
- Protocol: all / tcp / udp (refer to your game or application's documentation).
- Starting port: the external WAN-side port to forward.
- Map IP address: the LAN IP of the target device. Assign a static IP to it first via More settings → Network → IP address reservation.
- Map port: the internal port on the target device (usually the same number).
Note: Port forwarding requires your ISP to assign you a public IP address. If your ISP uses Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT), port forwarding may not be possible without an additional service from your operator.
What is the DMZ and when should I use it?
The DMZ exposes one specific LAN device to all unfiltered inbound Internet traffic, bypassing the firewall. Enable it in More settings → Safety → Firewall, toggle DMZ switch ON, and enter the LAN IP of the target device. Useful for game consoles or servers requiring many open ports.
Warning: The DMZ host receives all incoming Internet traffic without firewall protection. Only use it for devices that have their own adequate security. Never put a personal computer in the DMZ.
How do I schedule an automatic weekly reboot?
Go to More settings → Manage → Scheduled tasks → Scheduled restart. Click '+ Add to', set the time (HH:MM) and the repeat days (Sunday to Saturday), then click Sure.
How do I schedule the Wi-Fi to turn off automatically at night?
Go to More settings → Manage → Scheduled tasks → Wi-Fi timing. Click '+ Add to', set the Starting time (Wi-Fi off), the End Time (Wi-Fi back on), and the repeat days, then click Sure.
How do I use WPS to connect a device?
WPS is only available when Mesh is disabled. Go to More settings → Network → WPS settings. Note: on the HOPI-5G-D6, 5GHz preferred is enabled by default (unified SSID); to configure 2.4G WPS specifically, disable 5GHz preferred in Wi-Fi Settings first. Then select the 2.4G WPS or 5G WPS tab, enable WPS enabled, and click Start configuration. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the device you want to connect.
Warning: WPS for client device pairing is not available when Mesh is enabled. The WPS button on the HOPI Home Docking is reserved for Mesh node pairing when Mesh is active.
My IPTV decoder does not work. How do I fix it?
IPTV uses multicast technology which requires IGMP to be enabled. Go to More settings → Network → IGMP Settings and enable both:
- IGMP Snooping Enable: optimises multicast traffic distribution on the LAN.
- IGMP Proxy Enable: relays multicast group membership between LAN and WAN.
Click Save & Apply.
Note: For best results, connect the IPTV decoder to a LAN port of the HOPI Home Docking via Ethernet cable rather than Wi-Fi.
How do I test connectivity to a host (Ping)?
Go to More settings → Diagnosis → Ping. Enter the URL or IP address, set the number of pings (default: 10) and optionally enable Cycle for continuous pinging, then click Start. Results appear in the output area below.
