Wi-Fi and network troubleshooting
Does the HOPI Home Docking work without the HOPI Mobile Wi-Fi unit inserted?
Yes, as long as a wired Ethernet WAN connection is active. However, 5G connectivity and 5G failover require the HOPI Mobile Wi-Fi unit to be seated in the dock and powered on with an active Nano SIM.
I cannot access the Internet even though everything is connected.
Check the following in order:
- Confirm the Ethernet cable is in the WAN port of the HOPI Home Docking (not a LAN port) and in a LAN port of your modem or box (not its WAN port).
- On the Home Page, click My Network and verify the Mode selection matches your ISP (DHCP for most cases).
- Restart the HOPI Home Docking: click Restart (top-right of the Web UI) or hold the rear POWER button.
- Verify your modem or box itself has Internet access by connecting another device directly to it.
How do I add a third Mesh node (or any additional compatible STRONG Mesh device)?
1Enable Mesh pairing mode
Make sure the HOPI Home Docking is powered on and the Mesh network is active. Press and hold the WPS button on the HOPI Home Docking for 2 seconds. The system enters Mesh pairing mode.
2Activate the new node
Within 2 minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the new node to add for 2 seconds.
3Confirm pairing
Wait for the pairing to complete. The new node appears in the Mesh Management topology diagram in the Web UI.
Note: This WPS button method is exclusively for pairing Mesh nodes. Standard WPS pairing (connecting Wi-Fi client devices without a password) is not available when Mesh is enabled.
How do I see which devices are connected and block one from the Internet?
Click the Device Management tab. The list shows every connected device (Wi-Fi and Ethernet) with its name, IP/MAC address, and online time. To block Internet access for a specific device, toggle the 'Allow access to the Internet' switch to OFF. The device stays on the local network but loses Internet. Toggle it back ON to restore access.
How do I set Internet time limits for a device?
Go to More settings → Network → Parental Controls → Internet time control. Click '+ Add to' and set: Starting time and End Time (the blocked window), the days of the week, and the target device under 'Effective for specified device'. Click Sure to save. Multiple rules can be created.
How do I run a traceroute to identify where a connection fails?
Go to More settings → Diagnosis → Trace. Enter the URL or IP address and an optional service port, then click Start. The hop-by-hop path is displayed in the output area.
